Formed in 1986 as Community Health Charities of Georgia and given federal and tax-exempt status in Georgia in 1987, the organization was later renamed in 2012. Now known as Community Health Charities of the Southeast because its territory was expanded to include Alabama, it is the largest workplace giving program devoted exclusively to health. By partnering with employers like Emory, Community Health Charities of the Southeast connects Georgia and Alabama employees to health and wellness information, volunteer opportunities and the ability to direct donations to the health charities of their choice. The extensive list of trusted health charities includes 55 Georgia agencies, 27 in Alabama and more than 60 national ones. CHC has one full-time and one part-time staff, is governed by a Georgia/Alabama-based Board of Directors and participates in workplace giving programs across the state in both public and private sectors. It is an affiliate of Community Health Charities of America.
