Incorporated in 1973, the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta is a federation of 209 nonprofit organizations in the thirteen-county metro Atlanta area that work together to raise funds for programs and initiatives that tackle the root causes of crime and break the cycle of violence. United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta is governed by a thirty-two member, Georgia-based board of directors, has 122 full-time staff, and participates in more than 2,100 workplace giving programs.
